Dear participant,

You are being invited to participate in the research “Development, validation and application of a game for teaching the physiology of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis for undergraduates in courses in the areas of health.”, developed by Letícia Corrêa Vaz, Master's student in Physiological Sciences at the Federal University of Pampa - UNIPAMPA, under the guidance of Professor Dr. Mauren Assis de Souza, which aims to develop, validate and apply an educational game for teaching the physiology of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis. You may request additional clarifications about the study in any aspect you wish at any time during the research. You may also withdraw your consent or discontinue participation at any time, without suffering any kind of penalty or prejudice. After being informed about the following information, if you accept to be part of the study, sign the option “I have read and accepted the free and informed consent form on the registration page”.

Your participation will consist of answering questions from three questionnaires to the project researchers and making use of an online game with the hypothalamic-pituitary axis theme. At the end of the survey, the questionnaires will be kept on file for at least 5 years, according to CNS Resolutions 466/12 and 510/16 and CEP/Unipampa guidelines, and at the end of this period, they will be discarded.

The risks for participating in the research will be few, as it involves three questionnaires and a virtual game. However, there may be some embarrassment on the part of the participant to answer the questions in both stages, as it contains objective questions about the specific content of the physiology of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis. In this case, you can request to abandon the survey, stop completing the questionnaire or stop using the game at any time. As this is a data collection research, without interventions, participants will not receive follow-up after the project is carried out, however, they can contact the researchers at any time through the available telephone numbers. As a benefit for participating in the study, you will have access to an alternative means of studying content seen in the classroom. There will also be feedback to the scientific literature on the topic.

You will not incur any cost to participate in this study, nor will you receive any financial benefit. The expenses necessary for your participation in the research will be assumed by the researchers.

Your name and identity will be kept confidential, and the research data will be stored by the responsible researcher. The results may be published in scientific publications or presentations at events.

If there is any damage, resulting from this research, you will be entitled to compensation, through judicial means, as provided in the Civil Code, the Civil Procedure Code, in Resolution nº 466/2012 and in Resolution nº 510/2016), of the National Health Service (CNS).

In case of doubt regarding the ethical conduct of the study, contact the Unipampa Research Ethics Committee. The Committee is made up of a group of people whose objective is to defend the interests of research participants in their integrity and dignity and thus contribute to ethical standards in conducting research.
